November 14, 2013, Thursday morning, my mom ask my younger brother to look and buy for some bread if there's any, if ever someone started selling a bread again and he declined it saying that there would be no one who'll sell food such as bread nowadays. Then I volunteered hoping there would be one.
I left the house using our mountain bike. On my way to Marasbaras, Tacloban City, I encountered some obstacles such as flood. A very stinky water that came from rivers through canals and I have no choice but to pass there. When I finally arrived at my destination, I was devastated by the fact that my brother was half right. He was wrong for the fact that there's still a bakery open, right because there is no bread left. Pretty disappointed but my journey hasn't ended yet. I decided to keep going. I moved on to check for my friends and their families if how they're getting through these kind of dilemmas. I was getting near but when I saw that there is no way for me to pass I did not go instead I went to my older brothers house to check for y niece then that was the time I realize that my bike's tire is flat, really flat.
It was hilarious and pathetic but my efforts wasn't wasted because I thought of something that would be a big help when I got home.
From Picas, Sagkahan, Tacloban City, I walk with my bike to Utap. I went there for two reasons; first, to ask my cousin for a spare parts for my dads motorcycle and lastly, for some food to eat. I was hungry. I stuffed some food for my tummy then left. I went to my cousins store for the spare parts that y dad needed and then started walking. And by the way I used the other side of the road because there ain't no flood there.
It was quarter to eleven in the morning, the sun was getting hotter, and I was getting thirstier. All I was praying to God was water for me to drink, even a droplet of it just to conquer my thirst. Then I met a woman who called my name. At first I was confused who this woman is. When she asked me if she could tag along with me, I said, "Sure!". That was the time I ask her, "Do you have some water?" and answered me "Yes!". I was so happy I met her there but when she spoke to and said, "You know what, I was praying to have someone walking along with me then here you are. Thank You Lord!". I was like, maybe we were really destined to meet that time.
The sun is now exactly above our head and the weather is so hot, like you could fry under the sun. A minute later we were smiling because we could already see our hometown.
Yeah! I'm finally home.
My parents scolded me for taking so long and for looking like this.
This wasn't really what I look like when I got home. This was after I took a bath. I was really toasted when I got back. Funny, 'cause the only thing I could see on the mirror was the shirt I was wearing. And now my skin looks lesser brown than this picture.
